Breast Anatomy

If you are a woman, you probably think that you know a great deal about female breast anatomy. The anatomy of a breast is not that complicated, but it does have a great deal to do with the overall anatomy of a female's body. The anatomy & physiology of the breast is something that can easily be researched or found out and does not always require an anatomy class, but for those who are looking to go forward in the medical industry and would like to learn more about the anatomy of the breast and other facets of the female breasts, usually for medical education purposes.

Breasts are mostly fatty tissue. The size of the fatty tissue in the breasts has to do with the size and shape of the breasts, as they do not have any muscle tissue of their own. For obvious reasons, since breasts do not continue active muscle tissue it can be rather difficult for them to retain their size if the woman starts to lose weight. For this reason, you might notice a significant difference in the size of your breasts if you are working out a lot and attempting to lose weight.

Outside of the fatty tissue that makes up the weight and girth of the female breasts, the breasts are also made up of milk glands and milk ducts. These are two of the most important parts of the breasts, as they are what nourishes children—the sole reason for breasts to truly exist in the first place The milk glands produce the milk inside the breasts and the milk glands move the milk from the milk glands up into the nipple, from which it can be expelled from the breasts.

From there, there are additional parts to the anatomy of the female breast and this applies to the anatomy of the male breast as well. There is a circle of skin around the nipple called the areola. The nipple is usually in the middle of the areola, and depending on eh woman the areola can be one of any number of sizes. They have glands on them that help to keep the area lubricated, as well as specialized muscles that help to get the nipple hard and erect when it is cold or under other circumstances, like sexual arousal. On the flip side, this does not apply to the anatomy of every female's breasts. Some of them have inverted nipples that are unable to do that and some females even have breasts that never really get firm.

Unfortunately, there is a negative impression in Hollywood and the rest of society as to what a normal breast should look like. Pamela Anderson paid a great deal of money for her so-called 'perfect breasts' so it is important to understand that not all breasts are going to be like that, no matter how much one may think that is the case.
