Starches are also an important part of a balanced diet. Many of the fad diets out there say that carbs are bad for you, but anything in excess is going to be bad for you. Whole grain bread, cereals, potatoes, and other things are important to make sure that you are as healthy as you can possibly be. Jacket potatoes are the best way to go as far as potatoes go, and rice is also good for you although brown rice is always best since it is in its more natural state.
Protein is an important part of any diet. Healthy foods that have protein in them are essential for proper function of many of our organs in our bodies. Meat and fish are great sources of protein, but for those who do not eat meat tofu and bean products are also important sources of protein as well.
